I started working at Bombers in 2018 as a cocktail waitress. I had worked many days and many many nights. I had seen and met a lot of people from Rock Springs and Green River (I'm from Farson). In 2019, I began working the bar alone as a bartender on dayshift. I worked the weekends, including Sunday football, and Mondays. These were our busiest days. In 2020, covid hit and we were reduced to to go orders and deliveries. When we reopened we were still in masks so it was early May and we were still in masks with heavy restrictions. Anyway, I had a huge lunch rush on a Friday afternoon, and in walks three guys. One guy in particular was wearing bright red Nike tennis shoes. You literally couldn't miss them. He bee-lined it to the bathroom. So, I hurried to the table to take the other two guys orders. I sent their order back and the third guy came out of the bathroom. I caught him as he was walking to the table and asked him what he wanted to order. He told me the southwest chicken burger. This particular sandwich takes about 40 minutes to fully cook. The longest on the menu. We were so busy my manager came out to rescue me and help me run orders and make drinks. So I got caught up in the rush and the guys' food came out and I realize the third guy is missing his food. All I'm thinking is, "Shit." I forgot to ring this guys lunch it and it's going to take at least 40 minutes. So I do what anyone would do and I blamed it on the kitchen. His food eventually came out and they left. I assumed they were from out of town because I hadn't seen their group before. The whole summer goes by, and the group of three guys keep coming in for lunch. I make sure their order is rung in and they get better service than the first time. Since the first time I saw the guy with the red Nike tennis shoes, I was very interested in him. My manager didn't know who he was but she said they worked for the Window and Door store. I really considered calling the business itself and asking them about the guy with the red shoes but decided not to. So my manager asked the owner of Bomber's business partner, and he called around trying to find out his name. Later in my shift, a customer came in that knew who the group of guys were and he told me the guy with red shoes name was Jake Munk. All summer I had waited for this guy with the red shoes to ask me my name or talk to me at all other than when he paid for his lunch but it never happened. So when I found out his name months later (in October) I found him on Facebook and sent him a message. However, I thought he had a girlfriend so I wasn't expecting a response. To my surprise, I got one minutes later. When Jake tells the story he will tell you he ripped off the side of the road on his way to hunting camp and thought about turning around to come meet up with me. We made plans to meet up and we had a great time. We played shuffleboard, watched a football game and drank way too much. And ever since that night, five years ago, we have been by each others side. We have been through a lot together but we are best friends, soulmates and the loves of each others lives.
