We met during the summer of 2014 while studying abroad at Cambridge University. It was day one of our program. Madelyn had just said goodbye to her family, who had dropped her off during a UK tour of the Long Beach Poly jazz choir. Jake finished unpacking with his Dad and began the summer by buying beer legally for the first time. We both decided to go to the program's first-night dinner. Madelyn was waiting for a friend in the entrance hall to the Kings College dining room and spotted Jake wearing a UCLA sweatshirt. She said hi first, and the two of them ate dinner together. After dinner, Jake invited Madelyn out, promising Stella Artois and a night with new friends. We've been together ever since, through our UCLA graduations in 2015 and 2016, a move to San Francisco in 2017, and returning to LA in 2020.
