Anthony Tokman

Best Man

Anthony has been a thorn in Luke's side ever since Luke made the ill-considered decision to room with him in Chicago for two long years. For all of their pleasant evenings spent hosting friends over wine, tea, and reactionary banter, the real highlight of Anthony's time in Hyde Park was introducing Luke to the two bright spots of modernity: Trader Joe's and seasoning. Anthony's quest for natural beauty eventually took him to the Hawaii of south-central Connecticut—New Haven—where he is pursuing, and perhaps one day finishing, a PhD in economics. When he's not listening to Luke drone on about totally obscure and irrelevant 19th-century French political thinkers, Anthony enjoys photography, baking, and driving ridiculously long distances to see his wife, ideally all at once.

Julia Post

Maid of Honor

"Sisterhood is symbiotic." If you are wondering what a faithful, tried, and true friend looks like, look no further than my sister, Maddie. She's had my back since day one (despite some natural older-sibling rivalry at first), and I'm honored to have hers every day, but especially this December 30th, 2023.

Emma Hackett

Bridesmaid

Emma and Maddie have been friends since their undergrad days at Christendom College, where they bonded over late night drives, cringey empowerment anthems, and overly dramatic British television. In their sophomore year, while living together in what was affectionately called “The Housie,” Emma roped Maddie into running the orchestration for the college’s production of Les Misérables. (And, for the record, Maddie did an amazing job!) Since those days, Emma has gone on to found a nonprofit theatre company in Baltimore, and she and Maddie have become experts - through road trips and many, many trans-continental phone calls - in the fine art of long distance friendship. When she’s not putting on a play or musical (which is never), Emma enjoys cooking, traveling, and pretending she can play the piano.

Ugonna Eze

Groomsman

Ugonna and Luke met over a decade ago in the auspicious corners of the DC intellectual circuit. Since then, their friendship has blossomed into a brotherhood that’s included countless plates of Rice A Roni in frigid Chicago and Europa Universalis over hot chocolate. When Ugonna is not braving sub-zero temperatures with Will and Luke, he is pretending to practice law in NYC.

Claire Hamilton

Bridesmaid

Claire and Maddie are cousins and even better friends. Claire’s earliest memories with Maddie include playing barbies in Aunt Ann’s basement, playing school (Maddie was usually the art teacher) and swimming in Nana’s pool in the summer. One weirdly distinct memory she has includes school teacher Maddie (her early career circa 2008) giving her a critique. She had a drawing in front of her, done in crayola crayons of course, and Maddie told me to “work in the color” to not let the white of the paper peek through. She recalls going through some sort of artistic awakening shortly after this. Claire since then has enjoyed color and the arts so much she pursued a Masters in crayon design, (just kidding) she studied graphic design and art history during her undergrad years. Claire was also a proud member of the women’s swim team at her school. In her free time she enjoys illustrating, painting, cooking, and going to bakeries. She is so excited for Maddie and Luke to start a new chapter in their life together and is looking forward to all of the new memories with the both of them!

Dimitrios Halikias

Groomsman

Dimitri first met Luke a decade ago in Manhattan. He spent an enjoyable evening in an overpriced Upper West Side café listening to Luke prove the existence of the moral law through appeal to Chomskyian theories of universal grammar. Luke’s interlocutor was left unconvinced. In the years since, Dimitri has been treated to many more such disquisitions—Luke’s range is suspiciously broad—though few have proved any more successful. Dimitri currently lives in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where he is completing a PhD in political philosophy.

Margaret Hamilton

Bridesmaid

Lifelong and self diagnosed PBA warriors; Margaret and Maddie walk closely as good cousins and friends. Of the many things that endear and inspire Margaret, Maddie’s expansiveness and range as a person is perhaps the most notable. One afternoon after Margaret and her sister Claire slept over at the Post’s, Maddie revealed to us that she wanted to be a drummer when she was older. Most of her hair was parted to the left side concealing most of her left eye; this look was fixed into place with a dark colored beanie she donned. She began to rhythmically head bang to her air drums and beat box. Not long after she was showing us her wedding dress designs and sketches of Lizzie Bennet from Pride and Prejudice. I have no doubt Luke will be able to keep up with her range, expression, aspirations, and vis versa. Margaret likes to take her shoes off at the park and do installation art.

Kalu Ogbureke

Groomsman

Kalu first met Luke first met over 12 years ago as part of a freshman-welcoming campaign during Kalu’s first week at Columbia University. Their friendship grew from that week on, due in no small part to a shared love of Liverpool Football Club. Kalu currently lives in Austin, Texas, where he works (remotely) at a tech company. He enjoys attending sporting events, low heating bills, and visiting the two respectable art museums in the city.

Phillip Jeffery

Groomsman

Phil met Luke at a freshman welcoming event at Columbia. Through common participation in numerous clubs, classes, and Weird Al sing-alongs, they became fast friends despite wide-ranging disagreements on politics, faith, and the American League East. Phil would, begrudgingly but gratefully in the end, come around to Luke’s point of view on more than a few things (not the Boston Red Sox, however—never that). He lives in Virginia, where he works as an editor, with his wife and several overburdened bookshelves.

Haley Post

Bridesmaid

Haley and Maddie go way back; Haley has been Maddie’s older cousin since before she can remember and she couldn’t be more excited to celebrate the new Mr. and Mrs. Foster! From the time Haley first met Luke, she knew he was worthy of Maddie because he laughed at all of Haley’s jokes — even the ones at Luke’s expense! The things we do for our future wife’s crazy cousins, am I right? Haley is a lawyer in Philadelphia who loves eating, praying and loving - oh, and of course, crashing weddings! So don’t spill the beans on the fact that she’s crashing this one, too!

William Strench

Groomsman

Will has been a missionary for American culture to Luke for years. While he and Luke lived together in Hyde Park, they often discussed (to the neglect of sleep, homework, or other obligations) their shared interest in Catholicism, politics, and Napoleon Total War. But Will also endeavored to transmit his love of his own culture’s products such as Fast and Furious and McDonald’s. Since his year with Luke and Ugonna, Will found a new captive audience in his wife and his sequel (his one-year-old son William Antonio). He is moving to D.C. to practice law after a year in Birmingham, Alabama. In the spare time that fatherhood and prayer leave, he expresses his identity as a millennial by running and listening to podcasts.

Pauline Post

Bridesmaid

Maddie and Polly grew up playing dramatic games with Barbies and watching 90s and early-2000s cartoons. Who could forget us watching Arthur on PBS Kids and Courage the Cowardly Dog on Cartoon Network?! Polly obtained her BS in Education and Masters in Elementary Education from Cabrini University. When shes not wrangling kids, Polly enjoys horseback riding, drawing, and pottery making.

Gabriel Ozuna

Groomsman

Gabe and Luke met in the summer of 2013 on a retreat to Lake George, New York. They quickly bonded over a shared view of Christian civilization, political philosophy, and a capsized canoe that was NOT MY FAULT. Over the years, with many visits between Columbia and Yale, and thereafter, Chicago, South Bend, and the Rio Grande Valley, the two have remained the best of friends. Although Gabe has been sequestered away these past few years trying to preserve the historic and cultural resources of South Texas, he looks forward to many more years of grand discussions, road trip adventures, and fruitful work with his friend, for the succor of those years wherein we are set.

Katherine Toll

Bridesmaid

Kate is Maddie’s oldest cousin on her Mom’s side. One of Kate’s favorite memories that she doesn’t actually remember, is Ann telling a story of when Maddie was a baby. According to Ann, Kate marched into their Oak Road house and requested that Ann “let her walk.” She could not seem to understand that Maddie being a baby could not walk! Ever since Maddie has been able to walk, Kate and Maddie have enjoyed everything from summer cousin trips of the week when they were young to now going out for drinks. While Kate has dated Matthew, Mark, and John, she is so happy that Maddie has found Luke, and is so excited for the ceremony and immaculate reception. Cheers to Maddie and Luke!
