It all started with one, Benjamin Angus Green. Ben met the Turner brothers in high school, and they’ve been friends ever since. By 2019, all three had left New Jersey for the West Coast. Ben lived in Portland while Spencer and Austin had moved out to California. Ben met Madeleine at Lewis & Clark College. After graduation, they moved into a house with Téa, Megan, and Jasmine. They nicknamed it the Falcon House. In October 2019, Spencer finally visited Ben at said Falcon House. He nearly cancelled to go crabbing, but instead, Spencer met Madeleine! On Halloween night, after everyone else had gone to bed, Spencer told Madeleine he had a “big ole crush” on her. Grinning ear-to-ear, she leaned in, “Well, I have a big ole crush on you.” He sat up straighter and smiled, “Oh really?” Since then, we’ve continued to grow together, often while living on separate coasts. Last fall, Spencer made the final big move out to Seattle. He had also started designing a ring…
Four years and four days after that fated Halloween night, we got engaged! Spencer took Madeleine to our neighborhood park where we were surrounded by the houseboats and walking fish tiles of Eastlake. We are so excited to take this next step together and cannot wait to celebrate with you all!
The drawings on our Save the Dates each represent different parts of our lives, drawn by us. Here’s the key: Tiny whisks - for our mutual love of cooking Goose - Madeleine’s childhood nickname Daffodils - Madeleine’s mom always planted daffodil bulbs for her “Daffodil Girl” Sea plane - for Spencer’s second greatest love (i.e., planes) and our current Eastlake neighborhood Nuzzling ducks - while dating long distance, Spencer would send Madeleine photos of ducks (“duck pics,” if you will) during long work shifts Golden Gate Bridge - for Spencer's family in the Bay Area and where he moved in 2018 Tilting Redwood - Spencer’s favorite trees Bee - when Spencer lived in California, we would text the golden gate and bee emojis to each other because together they spelled out for “baybee” Peony - for Madeleine’s family Great Blue Heron - for Spencer’s family Ferry boat / Mt. Rainier - for Madeleine’s childhood and where we now live!
