We were both studying abroad in Cape Town, South Africa and were on our spring break trip in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. In Victoria Falls each of our friend groups decided to go on a sunset river cruise and we met on the cruise. Maddie told one of her best friends also there that night that she wanted to kiss the British guy from the boat. From there we flirted exchanged numbers and started dating in Cape Town. We then did long distance until COVID allowed us to move to Chicago together in May 2020. We cannot wait to celebrate with you all in Chicago in October 2024!

We got engaged on December 4, 2022 in Chicago. Jack wrote poems with clues and gave them to friends across Chicago for Maddie to go to. Each one led to a different location and then eventually to Jack. It was the most perfect day getting to celebrate and see some who have supported us in this chapter.
