we hope this message finds each and every one of you as well as possible during this physically and emotionally fraught season 💓 we have finally made the firm decision to postpone our italian celebration one year - we won’t say “with a heavy heart” because our number one priority is your safety, and doing the right thing to make sure everyone is safe is hardly a heavy-hearted decision. while the details are not remotely ironed out, we wanted to reach out as soon as plan b became official. we will be sure to keep you updated as we reorganize our trip for august 2021. we think we will likely all be in need of a celebration by that point - and those of us who are not fluent can work on our italian in the interim 🙂 hopefully any plans you’ve made thus far can be pushed out a year - our villas and vendors have been extraordinarily understanding, but let us know if you need help communicating with your accommodations or would like suggestions on lodging within seven miles of the venue. we love you all and cannot wait to see your cute faces in person. xoxo, Mike + Alyssa
they know they met in middle school - she still remembers the lyrics he wrote to the tune of a sugar ray song about benedict arnold when their fifth grade classes joined up for a revolutionary war project. certainly, they must have been at the same birthday parties having shared the same friends since they were two, despite attending different preschools and elementary schools. it was a certain ice cream shop at sixteen - and a certain crush he had on her friend - that brought the two closer, even though she was seeing someone else and they would be seeing someone elses for the next four years. they were just best friends - until they weren't just best friends.
first thing in the morning, no pants, no glasses, a stinky old t-shirt of his, some impressive bedhead, and the ring her two best friends treasure hunted together for almost a year. no, she doesn’t think she'd want to say yes to forever with him any other way.
enough of the third person. we intimately appreciate what a big ask it is to request your traveling halfway across the world for us - and we recognize that some of the people we love will need to celebrate stateside instead. for those who can make it - we are so excited to share such a special spot with you. for those needing to stay local this august - stay tuned for a casual gathering back home. we can't wait to toast our being married with all of you who are able to join us - and enjoy a yummy meal* together - but we also really want the people we care about to make the memories they want to make, without hesitation - aside from the ceremony and the celebrating that will follow, we want you to feel free to do exactly what you want to do while in such a magical place. please check out our “travel” tab for more details. *mike did not condone the use of the word "meal".
