When people says, “Your mother know best” they are correct. The only reason Austin and I ever met is because both our mothers kept talking about each of us and quickly realized we had a lot in common. I remember my mom calling me one afternoon telling me about a boy named Austin. Thanks to the world of social media I was able to meet him, and my life was changed forever. The first time we met, it felt like we had known each other for years. After that day, our lives began to change without us even knowing. Austin & I began the journey of a long-distance relationship quickly after we met. I was attending school at Angelo State while Austin was at Hardin-Simmons. Even though we did not get to see each other every day there was something special about our relationship. We made our relationship work even when we lived 3 hours apart. We just had to stick it out until we finally lived in the same town. Now we are planning our wedding and I couldn’t be more thankful for our relationship.

On my birthday, the Kent family surprised me with a ticket inviting me to come on their family vacation to Cabo. I was beyond excited for the opportunity. Little did I know, this was the place where I would get engaged to my best friend. We had professional pictures taken. As we were taking pictures around the resort, we decided to make our way to the golf course. As Austin and I were standing there waiting for instructions from the photographer Austin started talking to me. My heart started racing because I thought I knew what was happening. Before I knew it, Austin was on one knee saying, "Will you marry me?". I was completely shocked, but I've never been happier to say the word YES. July 4th of 2017 was a magical day in Cabo San Lucas.
