Ashley was browsing profiles on Bumble and stumbled upon Ben's. One of his pictures was of him skydiving. She had been skydiving before and was intrigued with his sense of adventure, so she swiped right, and they matched. She said, "Hey! Where did you go skydiving? I went in Australia, and it was amazing. I would definitely do it again! Would you?" After several weeks of chatting online, they decided to meet for lunch on Memorial Day - Monday, May 30, 2016, since neither had plans. Ashley suggested Decatur since there were plenty of cute restaurants. They did not realize that most restaurants are not open on Memorial Day and ended up at the only restaurant open, Raging Burrito & Taco. To this day, they still enjoy a good taco!

Ben booked a cabin in Hiawassee, GA, for Friday, November 12 - Sunday, November 14, 2021. They brought both dogs, Addie Mae and Lola. The drive-up was beautiful as the trees were in their prime fall colors, but the switchbacks were too much for Addie Mae's tummy, so they had to make an emergency clean-up stop in a random campground's parking lot. Once they made it to the cabin, they had a lovely relaxing evening. Ben had mentioned that he wanted to go to Bell Mountain Park to check out the panoramic views on Saturday. Ashley woke up early, took a shower, and actually put on makeup, thinking Ben was going to propose at the top of the mountain. While she was standing in the bay window of the cabin overlooking the mountainside, Ben came up to her carrying the ring. He said, "Should we do this here?" and Ashley's response was, "sure?". Ben proceeded to get down on one knee and propose. After lots of hugs and smiles from ear-to-ear, they headed out to grab some coffee and drove to the top of Bell Mountain to take pictures of the stunning views. They spent the day taking in the beautiful landscapes, walking around a lake, and enjoying some beers and tacos at the local brewery. It was perfect!
