We met the summer of 2018 at our niece’s baptism. Tony’s first cousin Maxy is married to my brother Jerry (so we share the same niece but are NOT related). They held an after party at their house, where Tony tried his hardest to talk to me at any chance he got. I tried to avoid him as much as I could but somehow he managed to be everywhere I was. A few months later, I got a Facebook request followed by a few messages asking about things to do in Chicago. Tony tried his hardest to meet up but being the planner that I am I had no free time. I could only schedule him a month in advance. I also did not think anything of this meet up. I thought he just came from Texas and wanted to make more friends. Our first date was at an underground bar for 1.5 hours. I squeezed him in between girls night and work so if the hangout was boring I had a reason to leave. But it was so much fun! We then continued to talk more after and went on more awesome dates. My favorite date was when we went axe throwing, bar hopping (where we matched drink for drink), and then ended at Frosty’s pop up bar. This is the date I knew he was the one for me. Fast forward to 2020; we are getting married!
So…I met Lynn at Maddie’s baptism (Jerry & Maxy’s daughter). During the mass, I asked my brother (Tyson) who the God mother was. He said that is Jerry’s sister, Lynn. I was like wow, she’s really cute! Later that day, they had an after party at the house and with the help of some liquid courage I was able to talk to her. Soon after, I requested to be friends with her on Facebook. Around Halloween, I invited her to a party I was throwing at my apartment but unfortunately she was busy and we decided to meet up the next weekend. Our first “date” was very brief, we met up for drinks at an underground tarot card reading bar. I had a great time and I knew then that I wanted to see her again. Through our numerous dates and hangouts, I was able to get to know Lynn and I knew that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her. Lynn and I both love to travel so I knew that when I was ready to propose that it had to be during one of our international trips. This past January, we went on a Euro-trip to Lisbon and Barcelona. During our time in Barcelona, I asked Lynn the easiest question I have ever asked in my life. I can’t wait to get married to my best friend.
We went to Spain and Portugal in January 2020 for our yearly out of county trip! On our first day in Barcelona, we hiked all the way up to the top of Montjuic to watch the sunrise and that is where Tony got down on one knee and proposed.
