Balboa Park is a historic park within the heart of San Diego. Stroll through one of its many museums or go for a walk in the Japanese Friendship Gardens; There is so much to explore and always something to do. Personal favorites include the Timken Museum, Museum of Art and The Natural History Museum. Museums not your thing? Although touristy, it is a fun area to walk around and shop. We still recommend hopping the border and visiting Mexico for the real thing, but Old Town is an easy option if you happened to have left your passport at home.
