One fateful day, I (Megan) found myself at the bar on Level 28 of the FMC Tower (where I worked, where Jehan lived). The bartender told me a story about a handsome man that frequented the location (Jehan would like it to be clear that he was using the gym and the pool). I had not met him, but that would soon change. I took a phone call, walked down the hall where we passed one another that same evening! When I returned to the bar where he was, sitting in his "I Heart GMO" tee-shirt (food science majors will understand). Somehow he got my phone number, but I was determined to not date for a while and focus on my career and a new entry into the SJU EMBA program. Jehan would not let me off the hook and texted me every day for weeks until we finally went on our first date. Once I met him for dinner I knew he was different than anyone I had met before. We fell in love fast, spending many nights working side by side on my couch in my little Rittenhouse apartment. And the rest, as they say, is history!
Jehan and I had talked a lot about marriage and our future before the first trip we took to India to meet my soon to be in-laws. We both knew we wanted to spend our lives together, but ensuring the Luth family could meet me in person before he popped the question was a very important step for Jehan and me. In early December we boarded a plane to land first in Dubai, where we spent a few days adjusting to the time zone difference and prepping me to meet my new family. Once we landed in Mumbai I was immediately greeted with tons of love and affection. Just three days later we found ourselves back in Mumbai going to dinner with "some very important people", or so I thought. We got ready, I put on a fancy dress, and wanted to be sure my hair and makeup withstood the humidity (the women will understand!). Jehan found 30 minutes for us to have some alone time and walked me outside to the coast of the Queens Necklace in South Mumbai. Once I turned the corner and saw the flowers, champagne, and candles it set in that we were not meeting "important people" after all. He honored my wishes to have it be very private, so there are no photos or videos...just the perfect memory burned into each other's minds.
