Gurl next door (well, two doors down) It was September 3rd, 2017, and I (Luke) was returning to my dorm room after various orientation events. There was a buzz of excitement in the slightly crusty Next House dormitory as the upperclassmen were returning to campus to join us freshmen who had already been there for a week. I had noticed the name tag saying Abby on the door two down from mine and in the hallway I was able to finally put a face to the name - and it was an exceedingly cute face at that ;). We weren't able to talk too much then, but later that evening (well, technically, the wee hours of the morning), as one of us was brushing our teeth, the other was returning slightly sauced from a frat party. This moderately buzzed individual declared that we should have a "heart to heart" and we proceeded to go back to her room and talk for over an hour (yes, all we did was talk, haha). We covered a wide variety of topics from where we grew up to what stuffed animals we kept around for probably a little too long. On that night, I was glad to have made a cool new friend. However, it didn't take long for things to progress beyond that. An outing to see the killer clown movie IT with our good friend Matthew Ha turned into our first unofficial date, due to Ha’s natural tendency to fall asleep during even the most intense of films, leaving us free to flirt. From there, we simply began hanging out more and more - getting dinner together and binging TV shows. By the time January rolled around, we were definitively in love and saddened that we were going to be spending a whole month apart for IAP! We have been through so much together over the past 6 years - a pandemic, new jobs, lots of moves, and tons of awesome vacays - and I consider myself exceedingly lucky to have found Abby and to be able to continue to build a life with this extremely special girl! Hope you can come celebrate with us!
