Drama club! A year apart in school, we met through FAU High School's International Thespian Society, Troupe #7709 (7-7-0-FINE), where Devin was serving as the club's Giraffe Wrangler. Savannah remembers all this but Devin does not. Anyway, we quickly became best friends.
With Winter Formal coming up, Devin asked Savannah to the dance (yes, saying "YOLO") at the FAU Food Court in 2015. Romantic. She responded instantly and unambiguously: "NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO," and left so fast she knocked over a chair. Somehow, we stayed friends.
Shortly before Devin was supposed to move across Florida for school like a nerd, Savannah invited him to a drive-in movie theatre to see Captain America: Civil War with her entire family. Romantic. Devin did not bring a towel or blanket because he is not a coward, but he accepted Savannah's offer to share hers. Pretty soon, we were holding hands, and we haven't looked back. Full disclosure, we do not remember a single thing about the movie and have not seen it since.
After nearly seven years of dating, including moves to Chicago and Denver, we got engaged on an ice beach outside Silverthorne, Colorado, surrounded by a ring of things representing our relationship. As the fisher-people watched, Devin pulled the ring out of a DVD copy of Captain America: Civil War picked up along the path, while Savannah presented Devin with a silver compass engraved with the word "YOLO" and the coordinates of the food court where Devin asked her out seven years before. Savannah said yes, improving Devin's record to 50%. Savannah, meanwhile, is at 100%.
This hasn't happened yet, silly.
