Lourmarin
Located just 10 minutes by car, Lourmarin is a charming pedestrian village, with ivy-covered stone walls and typical sky-blue shutters. It is there that rests French philosopher, Albert Camus. The village itself is a “where does this alley lead?” kind of place that can be walked in an hour or less, depending how seriously you take your "flâneur" lifestyle. Don't miss the farmers' market which takes place every Friday morning for smells and flavors of the real Provence!
Aix-en-Provence
Located just 30 minutes by car, Aix-en-Provence is one of the most popular towns. It is famous for its outdoor markets and handsome pedestrian lanes, as well as it cultivated residents and their contagious "joie de vivre". It was that way when the French king made it his administrative capital, and it's that way today! Provence has a rich history as an enclave for artists, from Picasso to Cézanne. Make sure to visit Cézanne's atelier, where he worked from 1902 until his death in 1906. Saturday is market day, spread around the city, you’ll have an opportunity to discover its colorful streets, picturesque squares, and famous fountains along the way.
Gordes
Located 50 minutes by car, Gordes is classified as one of the most beautiful villages in France. It has a colorful history, having survived the plague, earthquakes and bombings. Perched up on a cliff, 340 meters above the valley, overlooking the luscious scenes of the Luberon, it offers breathtaking views. After roaming the cobbled pedestrian streets and vagabonding through stores, enjoy a glass of rosé or a spritz at La Bastide de Gordes, on the edge of the village. If you are feeling adventurous, keep driving to discover The Abbey Notre-Dame de Sénanque, known for its vibrant lavender fields.
L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue
Provence is known for its lavender-filled countryside and culinary excellence, but it's also a treasure trove in the design and art world. If you are one of those, just under 1hr away, you car drive to Isle-sur-la-Sorge known to insiders as a haven for interior design. On Sunday, the largest and most impressive outdoor flea market is held along the picturesque Sorgue River.
