Let's Try This Again!

We cannot wait to (finally) get married and celebrate with all of you! We want to thank each and every one of you for your love, support, and understanding as plans changed for us over the last two years. The only thing that didn't change was our love for one another and our love for you all. We hope you're all as excited for the Kalina Wedding 2.0 as we are!

How it began

Our story started simply: with friendship. The kind of friendship that is born from cold Minnesota winters watching movies together. Winter passed with late night conversations about life, the differences between California and Minnesota, and all the places we would love to travel one day. By spring we were looking for excuses to spend time together and couldn’t really ignore that our relationship had evolved into something more. In June, Lucas took me to our favorite little meadow and asked me to be his girlfriend with a beautiful bouquet. The next year passed with so much happiness -- from work lunches sitting in the grass, to trips backpacking around Colorado, and traveling to Greece. It was the best year of our lives and brought us both so much joy and love.

The Proposal

3/1/19

We will let Lucas tell this story, after all he did all the work.... After lots of thought, I decided that I wanted to propose to Summer in Colorado. Lo and behold, I get a call from her friend Emma saying that Summer wanted to surprise me for Christmas with a trip to Colorado for snowboarding ON the same weekend I planned to propose! Perfect, Summer just scheduled her own proposal. :) I proposed to Summer on a gorgeous winter hike to Mary's Glacier hike in Idaho Springs, CO. Snow was falling beautifully around us and Summer even joked that this would be the perfect snowfall for a proposal! When we reached the Glacier, I got down on one knee and asked her to be my wife. She said yes! From there it was all happiness and smiles... we hiked down the mountain and made our way back to Denver. However, another surprise was yet to come. Behind the scenes, Summer’s friends from all over the country had flown in to surprise her for an engagement celebration! They were waiting at a restaurant and surprised Summer when we walked in. I don’t think I’ve ever seen Summer so happy in her life -- the look on her face was priceless! We had just gotten engaged and Summer’s most important friends were all in one place to celebrate with her. The rest of the weekend was a happy blur and I don’t think these girls will ever understand how appreciative I am for their willingness to help make that snowy weekend as wonderful as it was. Emma, a special thanks to you for everything you did for me, I am truly indebted to you. To the rest of the girls, Natalie, Gigi (special thanks for decorating), Liz (also special thank you for decorating), Gina, McKenzie, Wiz, Sav, and to the boyfriends Matt and Dylan, thank you. This weekend would not have been the same without you.
