Lucas and McKenna began their Doctor of Occupational Therapy program at Huntington University on January 20th, 2021. On the first day of orientation, they arrived around the same time and walked into the building only seconds apart. Lucas chose a seat in the second row, and McKenna liked to sit in the front, so she decided to sit next to Lucas. They quickly became friends and were partners on a few assignments/projects. They slowly began spending more and more time together as friends during group outings. Eventually, they began spending one-on-one time, leading them to become closer and closer. On June 7th, 2021, Lucas asked McKenna to be his girlfriend!

Lucas planned a "date" for McKenna on August 6th, 2022. He told her to meet at his apartment, where he had a limo due to pick them up within minutes of McKenna's arrival. Without McKenna knowing any details of the night, the limo took them to Serenity Gardens in Scottsdale. Lucas guided McKenna on a walking tour of the property, which they had all to themselves. After exploring, Lucas stopped before a beautiful statue and asked McKenna to marry him. He had a photographer staging a pretend photoshoot nearby that captured the entire moment! Lucas had additionally planned for both of their families to surprise them following the proposal and enjoy the rest of the night all together!
