We initially met on the dating app, Tinder. On our first hello, it was on a rainy and stormy Tuesday evening, and we ate Thai food. We watched the most perfect and romantic Christmas movie on Netlfix - Katie's version. We watched the most cheesy hallmark-like movie on Netflix - Eric's version.
We went to Zoolumination - walked around holding hands. Katie fell head over heels in love this night.
We were gifted tickets to a Thursday night game against the Cowboys. Unfortunately the Titans lost.
We celebrated our first New Years Eve together. It was a chill and relaxed evening. Eric made carne asada tacos and homemade guacamole and chips. Yes, he fried the chips himself, probably because he forgot to pick some up at the store. After dinner we watched the Times Square and Nashville celebrations on TV. Around 11pm, we got the crazy idea to drive to a parking structure near downtown and watch the fireworks. At the stroke of midnight we shared a kiss, a kiss we would both come to find out was the first NYE kiss for us both!
We went to Lowe's for Eric to get supplies for something at work. Well, Katie turned it into an adventure gallivanting around the store - putting a metal pipe on her head like a hat. Eric knew he had fallen in love - he even has a photo of the moment he knew. Katie does not like the silly photo to this day.
Jackson is a very important young man in Katie's life.
In true Katie fashion, she was running out the door for work - frantic and just not a morning human. Eric stood on the curb and exclaimed "You get that I love you, right!?" Katie leaned back - shocked and so happy he finally said it (and first). Katie then said, "Did you mean to say that!?" Eric nodded and said "Yes." Katie then said "I love you too." Katie called her mama first, then texted Courtney freaking out. We were so happy it was out. Eric said he was waiting for Katie to say it first. HaHa!
We made a pillow fort at E's apartment only to take it down after we took a photo. It was much more comfy sitting on the couch 'normally.'
About 2 months prior to Eric's 30th birthday, Katie reached out to Sheri to see if she and Steve could secretly fly to Nashville for a birthday surprise. They sure did - Eric was shocked and speechless. All he could muster was "what the?!" Sheri came out first with a red velvet cupcake - "do you want a cupcake?" Sheri cried, Lance cried, and Katie was proud to have kept this surprise a secret. It was such a fun weekend!
It was the CMA Fest Kickoff Party on the Rooftop of Assembly Food Hall. We saw Russell Dickerson (Katie's favorite country artist), along with other artists like Morgan Evans, Scotty McCreery, and Erin Kinsey! We wore converses to match and just be cute.
We flew to California for Thanksgiving week. Little did Katie know, Eric had gone to her parents for their blessing prior to the trip. Sheri took Katie to get her nails done - as that is their thang - while Eric went to Jeweler's Touch. Eric took Katie's grandmother's diamond ring and had it reset on a new band. Katie also met Eric's family dog (Ruger), as well as his aunts, uncles, and friends this trip. It was quite magical and wonderful.
Eric got down on one knee and asked Katie to marry him at the Nashville Zoo - Zoolumination. In a state of shock, Katie said "Yes, it's about time!" Both families were around the corner waiting to celebrate. Katie's Dad was first to hug her after of course. Steve and Sheri got their first daughter finally.
Sheri was traveling to see Mitchell in Washington, and Katie wanted to be in the loop on when she landed safely. The chat exploded, and Steve was late to the convo, per his usual.
Eric and Katie decided together that having a private ceremony was perfect. It will be held on a separate day from the Happily Ever After Party. Family and Friends: We cannot begin to thank all of y'all for the love and support poured on our relationship and time engaged. Thank you also in advance for those able to attend our Happily Ever After Party, 10/05/2024. We cannot wait to celebrate, eat, and dance the night away. After our dramatic exit from the party, we are planning to head downtown and strut our newlywed selves on Broadway - listening to music, dancing and just celebrating the night away. If you would like to join, come on down with us!
