Travis and Maiya first met on the campus on North Carolina A&T State University as they arrived early for their first Blue & Gold Marching Machine band camp. Their freshmen years were spent too focused on "school, band, and everything else" so they connected lightly as they were both Engineering students and both top performers in their sections. During their Sophomore year, they both served as Section Leaders and began to spend more time with each other and develop a friendship. Travis started to "shoot his shot" that Fall semester by texting Maiya everyday. The courtship remained casual until Maiya joined Tau Beta Sigma National Honorary Band Sorority, and Travis decided to make his first major move, a celebratory dinner at a nice restaurant! Excited to see where things would go, Maiya agreed and Travis picked her up for their first official date. After a few months of dating, Travis mustered up the courage to ask Maiya to be his girlfriend. He saw great qualities in Maiya, but what he loved most was her intellect and outlook on life. They spent countless hours together throughout the rest of their college years, and remained together after Maiya graduated and moved to Virginia. They had a long distance relationship for the next 3 years where they traveled back and forth every month and took many baecations along the way. After they traveled up and down the East Coast, had a weekend getaway in Canada, and spent New Year's in France, Maiya finally decided to move back to North Carolina and be closer to Travis in 2020. In August 2021, Travis gathered all of Maiya's closest friends and family for a surprise engagement to ask her to be his wife! She said YES... but the story doesn't stop here. As the wedding planning began, their entrepreneurial minds and hearts full of love, came together to envision a wedding that would last forever. Travis & Maiya spent all of 2022 praying and working hard towards purchasing their first investment property, which would become their wedding venue. It was out of love and aspiration that The Evergreen Estate was created. Maiya & Travis are excited to share the premiere event at The Evergreen Estate with all of you, as they celebrate the start of their union and the beginning of an endless love!
