Established in 1961, the Dogwood Arts Festival is one of the most celebrated cultural events in Knoxville! The festival is held at World’s Fair Park and features over 100 fine art vendors, live music, entertainment, children's activities, food & beverage vendors, and more. It will be held from April 28th through May 1st.
We love taking Ranger here for walks. It's a short drive from downtown - right across the river - and great for a little hike in Knoxville's famed urban wilderness!
Take a stroll through Market Square in the heart of downtown to check out some of Knoxville's great small businesses, local restaurants, and nightlife options. You can head down to Gay Street or the Old City from here, but I always recommend Market Square as a starting point for newcomers to Knoxville!
The Knoxville Museum of Art has some great exhibitions for those of you who are more artistically inclined. During April, the Museum will be hosting "Landfall Press: Five Decades of Printmaking" to celebrate the innovative and technical excellence of Landfall Press. Not to mention, it's free!
We love dining at The Oliver Royale for special occasions. Their seasonal menu, locally sourced ingredients, excellent cocktail menus, and exceptional service make The Oliver a must visit! Not to mention, the Peter Kern Library speakeasy is connected to The Oliver Royale and the Oliver Hotel...
Kaizen is a Knoxville take on an izakaya, or small Japanese-style pub. The best thing on the menu here are hands down the steamed buns - specifically the Hot Miso-Mustard Chicken bun and Eggplant bun. If you're looking for something a bit more filling, Alex and I love the Mushroom Fried Rice and Dan Dan Noodles.
The Peter Kern Library is the one and only speakeasy bar in downtown Knoxville. The bar can be accessed via passcode entry in the back alley (look for the red light!) or through the Oliver Royale restaurant. You'll have to look up the most recent password... or let them know you are here for Alex's wedding! Alex used to serve cocktails at the Library and loves visiting time after time. It is a very intimate setting with a lot of ambiance... and an extensive bourbon inventory!
Great late-night cocktail and light bites spot. Looking for some suggestions? My favorites from here are La Danza, Sgroppino, and don't forget the recently trending Negroni Sbagliato... with Prosecco in it!
This is one of our favorite brunch spots. Alex's go-to is the Ribsticker bowl, but I prefer the Cali eggs benedict. If you're in the mood for something sweet, you can't go wrong with the traditional French Toast! Their Housemade Bloody Mary is a great hangover cure, too!
Think stone-fired pizza, vegetarian and vegan options, and everything made in-house. The Tomato Head has two locations - one downtown and one closer to our venue in The Gallery Center. Both locations have high quality foods for all dietary needs. Delicious and veggie friendly!
