We met shortly after the newly elected members were sworn into office. Harold was leaving his office to get ready to go to a legislative reception. At the time, Leah was the Director of Legislative Services for the Department of General Services. Leah was in the Plaza for the sole purpose of introducing herself and her department to the new legislators. We met at the "revolving door" entrance and became instant friends. On May 22, 2015, we decided to be more than friends and the rest is history.
I asked Leah to marry me after a romantic dinner for my birthday. Leah always asks me what I want for my birthday or any other gift-giving event, and I always say nothing. I am a simple man. I do not want or need much. However, there is one day a year that is always extremely special for me - it is my birthday! So, for this birthday, I decided I wanted her to SAY YES as my gift when I asked the question, "will you spend the rest of your life with me as my wife?"
