Question

What about Covid?

Answer

We ask that guests planning to attend be fully vaccinated. As the Delta Variant has evolved across the country, we will also be taking additional safety measures. There will be plenty of seating and set-up outdoors for guests to enjoy, and we will ask that guests wear masks when indoors. The indoor space is very spacious and windows/glass doors will all remain open for optimal ventilation. All catering staff will also be masked for the event. We will be updating this on an ongoing basis as evidence evolves and event guidance is released. Please reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns: 267-481-3759.

Question

What to wear?!?

Answer

We suggest a semi-formal attire: dress shirt, dress pant, khaki, fall dresses, jumpsuits, etc. (jackets/blazers are optional!) This event is both outdoors/indoors so a thick heel or flats would be recommended. The weather at this time ranges anywhere from 55 to 75 degrees - so warm clothing or layers may be a good option. These are just suggestions so please wear what you are comfortable and feel joyful in!! :)

Question

What is a self-uniting ceremony?

Answer

A self-uniting marriage is one in which a couple is married without the presence of a third-party officiant. Although non-denominational, this method of getting married is associated with the Quaker tradition. Neither of us is Quaker, but we view our wedding as a time of publicly declaring our commitment to one another in God/Love and receiving the support of our family and friends. We have asked a few family and friends to speak as part of the ceremony, and there will also be an open time during the ceremony where anyone is warmly welcome to say a few words (a story, advice, a hope, a reading/poem, or anything else meaningful). Programs will be distributed at the event, but this is meant to be fairly informal.

Question

What kinds of food will be served?

Answer

We will be serving a buffet of vegetarian and vegan dishes which range from various international cuisines. There will be everything from Indian lentil dishes with rice and naan, to pasta. There will be plenty of diverse food (and drink!!) for everyone, but if you need your meat fix for the day, we encourage you to enjoy lunch from any of the restaurants in the area prior to the event. If you have any other dietary restrictions (i.e. allergies, etc.) please reach out to us via email at lorahludwig@gmail.com or text: 267-481-3759.

Question

What should we expect?

Answer

After our self (and family) uniting ceremony, we will be celebrating with a big house party. The party will be outdoor/indoor at a large home on a private pond surrounded by state forrest. There are many rooms in the house to enjoy - there are pinball, arcade games, ping pong, pool, shuffleboard, and darts. Music will played indoors/outdoors throughout the house, so explore - feel free, unstructured, and help us celebrate our union!
