When Nicole first started cycling her coworkers that got her into cycling told her to get Strava, an app to track all of her rides. Innocently, Nicole followed Jason on Strava, having no idea who he was, thinking it was normal to follow the recommended people. She also happened to follow one of Jasons close friends. Long story short, Jason and his friend quickly noticed their new female follower and found Nicoles profile on Instagram. Jason messaged “Hey! You’re Nicole from Strava right?” and shortly after they met on a group ride (Two Wheel Tuesday, Nicoles first group ride) and quickly became friends. Jason and his friends showed Nicole the ropes and welcomed her to the Southern California cycling community. After a few months of friendship, they both realized that their friendship was growing into more and they decided to go out on a real date. During the pandemic most traditional dating options were nonexistent so they spent many hours on the bikes getting to know one another and finding new coffee shops, acai bowl places, and bakeries. When they first started dating they often would ride in Orange County along the coast and went to Shake Shack, a tradition they still enjoy to do together on Sundays.

We both are Formula 1 fans so we planned a trip to Nice, France to attend the Monaco Grand Prix, the race of all races. Prior to this trip I (Nicole) had broken my wrist and was off work for 5 months and Jason was working from home during that time. I had dropped hints about what I like but we never went together to look at rings. One day while we were both home a package got delivered to the house and Jason raced down the stairs to beat me to the door. After getting the package Jason ran back upstairs and I never saw that package again. Being the curious and persistent person that I am I asked endless questions but Jason never gave in. Fast forward to our first day in Nice, France. After a long day of travel, we arrived in Nice and went to what we thought was a spot we could get a pastry and coffee while we waited to check into our Airbnb. Wow were we wrong. After being yelled at in French that we needed to order a full meal or leave, having our drinks cleared from the table, and some tears shed by me we went to our Airbnb and got some much needed rest. We headed out for dinner in Old Town Nice where we got to enjoy some very good food, drinks, and people watching. We then strolled the promenade as the sunset and then went back to the Airbnb to plan what we would do the next day. Jason had teased me that he had a surprise for me and while I love a good surprise, I am the hardest person to surprise. I went into the bathroom to get ready for bed and when I came back out I found Jason down on one knee and obviously I said YES! We got to spend the rest of the vacation soaking in our new engagement, making memories and exploring a new place together.

Nicole Samantha Lohr. A Minnesota transplant to the sunny state of California she spends most of her time saving lives in the Cardiac Cath Lab of Pomona Valley Hospital. When she’s not helping doctors clear out arteries you can most likely find her on her road bike with her fiancé or riding with all her other amazing cycling friends. When Nicole is not on her bike, or eating tasty açaí bowls, and binging episodes of the Bachelorette with Jason, you can most definitely find her on a plane finding some place new to visit and usually with one of her 3 best hometown girlfriends. Longtime sweetheart Penny has been joined by the new and mighty Zeus the shepadoodle. The 2 of them challenge Nicole daily and for some reason only ever listen to Jason. The next adventure awaits! Jason Adam Paez. A California native working for Assos, a high-end Swiss cycling apparel company. While he works in the cycling industry Jason surprised Nicole when he told her he has an Agriculture degree from Cal Poly Pomona. You can usually find Jason out on his bike at a local group ride or on a coffee ride with Nicole enjoying the beautiful California coast. Jason is very dedicated to cycling which has led him to a spot on L39ion of Los Angeles, a professional cycling team. Jason enjoys checking out the local Socal breweries (especially if they have a good hazy IPA), creating cycling videos from his races and training rides, binging the latest TV show with Nicole while playing with their doggies, and can never say no to a good burger, burrito (especially Chipotle), or pizza.
