Our Story

How We Met Our first introduction was at our church young adults gathering. Within 5 minutes of meeting, we were asked by another stranger if we were married. "No. We literally just met," was our response. Little did we know what the future had in store! Summer 2023 We both had joined men and women's small groups which partook in co-ed activities. Through the group's occasional hang-outs, we slowly became acquainted with one another. However, Alexandra left for 3 weeks in June to Charleston, followed by a return week of volunteering. (Alexandra almost bought a house in CHS, but God had other plans.) Logan claims to have forgotten of Alexandra's existence in that time, but... the week of the 4th of July, Alexandra had returned to Missouri and the numerous festive group activities, including a weekend trip to the Lake of the Ozarks. While at the Lake, we had three licensed jet-ski drivers (one of them being Logan), and nine of us in total - that meant 3 to a jet-ski. Of course, Alexandra ended up on Logan's jet-ski. Upon return to the house, Alexandra helped Logan place his boot (for his broken ankle) back on, which blew his mind that this girl was willing enough to help him. That afternoon, the group took a nap/rest break. Meanwhile, Alexandra and Logan had hours of casual conversation waiting for the others. That's when Logan really knew he was interested in this girl - he appreciated her acts of service and realized he could talk forever with her! We all went out for one last jet-ski ride that evening, and there was definitely some match-making going on in the background. Others decided to all re-arrange jet-ski riders to leave Alexandra and Logan to one. Alexandra didn't realize she would be living a movie scene when Logan flirts, "We're going to ride off into the sunset together." Alexandra laughs it off. Back home for the work week, we both separately realized we missed the prior week's group activities, but more specifically talking to each other and spending time around one another. It didn't take long to reconnect, though - Tuesday was another Young Adults Gathering at church, where Logan officially asked Alexandra for her number. First Dates The following Sunday, July 16th, we went on our first date at Thai Kitchen in Wentzville for lunch after church. An intense storm rolled in and turned an intended 1 hour lunch into almost 3 hours of conversation. Our second date also wasn't the typical date you'd imagine - we went grocery shopping together and Logan cooked Alexandra dinner. The third date topped it with over 5 hours spent walking and chatting at Creve Coeur Park, ironically to the point of dehydration in the hot summer sun, and dinner at Hu Hot. Logan left the third date, thinking "when you know, you know." Alexandra went home and reviewed her "list" of desired characteristics in a future husband; Logan checked every box! Butterfly Moments When you think of love, you may think of butterflies. We experienced butterflies in a unique way, however. In many key moments throughout our relationship, God provided Alexandra with reassurance through the appearance of butterflies at key moments that began to stand out. Without much thought, that first moment was when we were on the jet-ski in the middle of the Lake - a butterfly had landed on Logan's leg. During our first phone call together, Alexandra was on a walk and a butterfly flew up to her. On our third date at the park, many butterflies danced in front of us as we walked. The fourth date, Logan decided we would go to the Butterfly House, where the butterflies only seemed to land on Logan. Alexandra was reminded time and time again that the peace and grace reflected in a butterfly was also depicted in Logan.

The Proposal

Do you think it was a surprise? It was a casual Tuesday evening, when Alexandra was coordinating her weekend plans to go visit her mother. When consulting with Logan about their schedule, he states that he was hoping to gift Alexandra with a surprise that weekend, and thus she was "busy" - the only details given. The prior Wednesday, Logan had asked Brenton, Alexandra's father, to lunch to ask for her hand in marriage. Hesitant to let go of his girl, he concurred (just kidding, he willingly granted his blessing). Skipping ahead to the Friday night before the big day, Logan came to Alexandra's house and had to help pick out her entire outfit for an "exclusive event" they were attending. Let's just say, this was suspicious activity, but Alexandra wasn't going to get her hopes and expectations up. Saturday, August 3rd, 2024 We started the day with a bible study together followed by lunch and pickleball with small group members. Mid-afternoon, we went back to the house to prepare for this "exclusive event," and headed out around 5:30 p.m. Soon we were pulling into Tower Grove Park in St. Louis, where Alexandra did see quite a few cars for this "exclusive event," but realized the other people there were playing pickleball (definitely wasn't happening for her in heels). Logan parked in front of a pond with a beautiful fountain and stone ruins, and walked around to open Alexandra's door. By this point, Alexandra was really skeptical, but still playing it off as nothing while simultaneously telling herself not to look for a photographer. We headed towards the pond and began around. Mentally, Alexandra was telling herself, "this must just be a shortcut to the event," until they continued around the pond towards these beautiful stone pillars. Alexandra knew it was about to happen, and her nerves spiked. Meanwhile, Logan had been nervous the whole time and was sweating profusely. We went between the pillars to the other side, where Logan paused, said a few words, and got down on one knee. Of course, her answer was "yes."
