We met the way people do these days- on a dating site. I had lived 10 minutes away from Lloyd for years, but we didn't have friends in common and wouldn't have met any other way! We dated for several months via video chat, with Lloyd sitting in a blue recliner in the playroom with Sky at his side and me on my couch in my downtown Little Rock apartment. I was finishing up my second year at the Clinton School of Public Service. A few months later I found the courage to ask him to fly down to Arkansas and visit me for a long weekend and, astonishingly, he said yes! He had been thinking it was time for an in-person date also. We had a BLAST touring around Little Rock: The Big Damn Bridge, 3Fold Dumplings, Emily Loker's front porch swing, The Clinton Museum, Fassler Hall and Dust Bowl Lanes bowling with Jenna -- she gave her full approval of our budding relationship. We drove down to Crater of Diamonds State Park and mined for diamonds, and Lloyd experienced his first Fired Pie in a diner in Murfreesboro, Arkansas. We waited for me to meet the kids until we felt solid enough in our relationship. We met at the Diary Queen in Westbrook, Maine about six months after we started dating. The kids, on the way out the door to meet me, had decided they wanted to draw me pictures. Robyn drew me and her on a beach holding hands and eating ice cream, and Simon followed suit. They were 5 and 7 years old. In Diary Queen we sat in a large, round booth in the corner, the Butlers on one side and me on the other. We ate french fries and Sundaes for dinner. We talked about school, our favorite rides at Fun Town USA and their pets. By the end of the meal Simon had moved from his Dad's side to my lap and Robyn was sitting at my side. I was quickly falling in love with the cutie pies and their Dada.
