On a fall New York City night we were brought together by two new room mates who happened to throw a party that would change both of our lives! (considering neither of us were supposed to be going out that night) Melissa's amazing friend Caitlin and her new room mate Leah, who's brother was on the St. Johns soccer team decided to have a housewarming party at their new West Village sublet ( shout out to Aaron for this one too!). After a long night of mingling Luis walks in on the party where Melissa spotted him. Called dibs, like any lady would, and sent Caitlin over to start a conversation so she could easily slide in... Obviously the plan worked out well :)
Exploring and taking in Luis' beautiful country of New Zealand we decided to hike the Redwoods-Whakarewarewa Forest. The Redwoods are a huge attraction in Rotorua, NZ where people come from all over the world to experience. We had the whole trail to ourselves searching for the famous Tui birds. They are cute dark birds with white puffs on their chest that make a very cute sound. As we were coming to the quarry lookout at the peak of the hike Luis points up at a Tui he had "spotted." Of course I did not see anything but told him I did so that he would stop asking me so many times if I saw it. Once I had realized he was messing with me I turned around and he was down on his knee and spoke the most beautiful words. The Redwoods are now a very special place to us.
