The beginning of Gabe and I goes back to a youth night at church where Gabe claims that my first words to him ever were: “Ew! Are those your feet?” Keep in mind, 7th grade Linzay was a tad sassy and 7th grade (and grown up) Gabe was almost always barefoot. We later set the smelly feet aside and became close friends in high school, but it wasn’t until our junior year of college at LSU that we grew our friendship, went on an unoffical king cake date in downtown Baton Rouge, and he eventually asked me out on a very official sushi date. I thought that was the easiest “yes” I would ever say to him. About two years after that day, Gabe took me on a date in our hometown of Alexandria, Louisiana, and that night he asked me to marry him. And with tears in my eyes this time, I said “yes”! There are so many details that go along with that timeline, but it’s beautiful and it’s ours—we wouldn’t have it any other way. Gabe is the most kind and servant-hearted man I have ever met. I have always adored him, even when we only knew each other as friends for several years. We are our own kind of “cheesy,” and we are always laughing together. God gave us patience during the time leading up to our first date, and OH MY GOODNESS we were so nervous that day. It was a risk we knew we had to take and we are overjoyed that we get to say “I do” to a lifetime of Jesus leading us into even greater things through and in our marriage. We can’t wait for the Lord to bring us on our biggest adventure yet as we begin our ministry together!
