Livia and Josh met during the pandemic. They had their first date at one of Josh’s favorite coffee shops. Livia was a little skeptical at first about the VERY bearded man, who seemed too familiar with the baristas and wayyy too into coffee. Despite not having any breakfast, Livia barely even touched her croissant because there was so much to talk about! It was a decent croissant so Josh must have been pretty special! They bonded over their love of food, podcasts about food, and building things. Even though Livia was late for every date, Josh kept waiting and asking to see each other again. He must have been very impressed. Livia is very spontaneous, gregarious, and has big grandiose ideas. While Josh is a “plan it out, measure, research, plan some more and then start type person”. Aka Livia thinks Josh is more than a little OCD and Josh is kind of low key terrified of hurricane Livia. However, those who have gotten to know them as a couple think they complement each other very well and bring out the best in one another. There are plenty of rambunctious debates as Livia and Josh try to find public support for their different opinions. Josh’s friends tend to support Livia and Livia’s friends tend to support Josh. We think it is because Josh’s friends fear he might end up an persnickety old curmudgeon without Livia to loosen him up and Livia’s friends are afraid she might starve to death and lock herself out of her own house without Josh’s loving support. Livia helps run her family business manufacturing construction related tools and Josh works in workplace strategy and design. Josh and Livia’s professions are related enough that they have plenty to talk about over dinner. They are both very passionate about their work and support each other’s hectic schedules and busy careers. Their chosen fields help them express themselves creatively and have given them the opportunity to travel all around the globe. Josh and Livia’s travels have given them the opportunity to meet many of each other’s out-of-state friends, many of whom will be at the wedding! Meeting each other’s friends and seeing such supportive and strong friendships only make Josh and Livia confident that they found a great catch. So many awesome people just can’t be wrong! Even more important has been meeting each other’s families. Livia’s diet is 90% bao’s lovingly handmade, frozen, packed and shipped to Houston by Josh’s mom. Livia is looking forward to spending many more afternoons learning family recipes from Josh’s parents. Livia’s endless supply of uncles, aunts, siblings, cousins, have seamlessly absorbed Josh into the family amoeba and all instinctively somehow know to call Josh first when looking for Livia. Livia’s outwardly stern father is continuously perplexed about why weddings are so complicated and take so long to plan while Mom flutters asking about details and updates. Joe and Lily wants us to hurry up and make it official already!
