`In case you don't know, we are both in commercial real estate. Part of our daily routine is calling people that we don't necessarily know - hence the term "cold call.” November 2016 Throughout the year, there are many real estate functions to attend. While attending a conference in Dallas, Marshall was at a broker event at the end of the day. While standing with Clay Mealy (Best Man), and a client, a very cute blonde-haired girl walked into the room with a very tall gentleman (her dad!). Marshall immediately told Clay that he needed to go talk to her and introduce himself. Upon uttering those words, the girl disappeared into the crowd, Marshall languished, and then ultimately chalked it up to “never seeing her again.” Little did he know, she didn’t live in Dallas! February 2017 When Lindsey entered the industry, she was given an outdated list of contacts to call for a property that she was leasing. Lindsey reached out to every person on that list, and Marshall was ironically the only one who called back. Since completing his client’s requirement three years prior, his return call was largely out of courtesy, and to welcome Lindsey to the industry. Upon realizing that there was more to discuss than just that one property, they arranged to meet for lunch to talk business. March 2017 The lunch was set for 11:30am at Adair Kitchen, a common lunch spot for real estate folks. Marshall parked his vehicle, finished a phone call, and then walked toward the restaurant. Approaching the door, he looked up and made eye contact with a very familiar-looking, very cute blonde-haired girl. “WAIT! THAT’S THE GIRL” immediately rushed into his mind, and he kind of panicked. It was Lindsey! No handshake…no hug. Just a fumbled, “Hey, so…what are you gonna eat?” After a solid two hours of sitting and talking about nothing real estate-related, Marshall and Lindsey realized that it felt like they had known each other for forever, and the rest is history.
