The Margate Resort has a beautiful beach with something for everyone: lounge chairs, water sports, a shaded lawn, and docks for boating.
Just off Alton Bay at the South end of Lake Winnipesaukee is the rightfully popular hike to the summit of Mount Major, providing spectacular views across the whole lake region eleven hundred feet below. The easiest routes still involve a thousand foot of elevation gain, but the views are the best bang-per-foot that you'll likely find in New Hampshire. The shortest route is a 2.7 mile out-and-back on the Main Trail.
One of the most nostalgic places on the lake. Start at Weirs Beach and walk down the boardwalk to see shops, restaurants, arcades, and boat tours / rentals.
High-flying and adrenaline-pumping activities abound in Gunstock's Adventure Park including Zipline Tours, Aerial Treetop Adventure, Mountain Coaster, and Scenic Chairlift Rides. Plus there are miles of dog-friendly hiking trails, mountain biking trails and a stocked pond for fishing.
