A real life "New Girl" story. Back in early 2020... Lindsay was planning on doing travel therapy out West and her lease was unexpectedly ending Memorial Day Weekend. She'd even gotten fingerprinted in California for her California OT license. Lindsay told her then friend/roommate that she was pursuing travel therapy so her friend signed a 1BR lease. Then the pandemic struck. Feeling too nervous to leave a good job in Virginia Beach and friends and family with this new unknown, Lindsay decided to stay. Only problem was... she had no place to live in a few months. Another friend was coworkers with Carter and she had a spot in her lease opening up in the fall. She mentioned that her boss (Carter) may be open to renting out a room to a friend of a friend for a short period. With a five month gap between leases and no other leads, Lindsay met Carter at the new house he had just bought in Norfolk. So, our story begins! We became roommates and had many awkward conversations getting to know each other from across his massive dining room table. We started becoming good friends and truly got to have just a platonic friendship during the "getting to know each other" stage. We went on our first "date" (we didn't call it that at the time) to Shenandoah National Park where we hiked White Oak Canyon (9.5 miles!) all day. We both had a feeling that this was going somewhere... but we were still roommates. Luckily (and boldly), Carter couldn't contain himself and he told Lindsay how he felt on July 23rd after a group trivia at Bold Mariner Brewing Company, while watching an episode of Sherlock together. From then on we've been through a lot of sad, scary, happy, and exciting times. We even moved to San Francisco together to be travel therapists! Through it all, we've both felt so lucky to have found each other at exactly the right time. We're living proof that "random roommates" can work out!
