David (aka Dewey) was at Buckheads Saloon in Downtown Milwaukee with his College volleyball teammates. Lori was also at Buckheads celebrating her friend Danielle's 21st Birthday. Long story short, Dewey and his friends approached Lori and her friends; they flirted, and at the end of the night, Lori decided to give Dewey her number by saying, "Here's the thing: you're attractive. I'm going to give you my number; use it wisely." (Spoiler alert: he did). Fast forward to three months later, after spending many weekends together, they took a walk to a pier in Downtown Milwaukee where Dewey proposed to Lori with a Ring Pop and asked her to be his girlfriend.
Dewey and Lori celebrated their five-year anniversary in late April, due to a friend's wedding taking place over their anniversary in March. Dewey had the weekend blocked off in their calendar, but Lori had no idea what he had planned. That Saturday morning, they drove from their apartment in Downtown Chicago to the pier where their relationship started in Milwaukee. Once they got to the pier, Dewey told Lori they were going to revisit all of the places that were significant to the beginning of their relationship. Then, Dewey had Lori open a gift, which was a “View-Master." Lori looked through it and saw pictures of them traveling throughout the years. The last picture on the reel was of the Ring Pop from the day Dewey asked Lori to be his girlfriend. When Lori took the “View-Master” off of her eyes, she saw Dewey down on one knee with the most beautiful engagement ring, and he asked her to marry him. (Spoiler alert: she said yes!) Lori then noticed a fisherman on the pier taking pictures of them and realized it was Dewey’s friend Scott! They spent the rest of the day celebrating with family and friends and ended the night at the old Buckheads (RWB Milwaukee), where it all started.
They met there; started dating there; got engaged there; so of course they got married in Downtown Milwaukee! Dewey and Lori exchanged vows and became Mr. & Mrs. on Saturday, September 19th, 2020!
Dewey and Lori will be hosting their postponed wedding reception on the Saturday after their one-year anniversary, September 25th, 2021, at Turner Hall, which will now feature a vow renewal ceremony!
