REALLY GOOD sandwiches. Approved by Leyla's mother (very hard stamp of approval to get)
We ate breakfast here on Christmas Eve in 2021 and still think about the burritos
In case you want to bring alligator sausages home. The staff once let us in the meat freezer unattended
Both of us love hot dogs. Check it out if you do too (most items are non-pork!)
Best BEST seafood
You've got to get the beignets if only to say you've gotten the Cafe Du Monde beignets. While you're there, develop an opinion on chicory coffee and report back to Leyla (pro) and David (con)
Fun for brunch but also for a dash of NOVELTY...
A Miami-Dolphins-loving corner store, with limited hours and closed on Sundays, tucked away in a very residential neighborhood, serves the BEST po-boys in Orleans Parish. Try their Vietnamese fusions or go classic, you cannot go wrong here.
This is walking distance from the venue... and it's just so cute! Go for oysters
Recreate TWO of our early dates (in DC) by meeting your significant other on the grounds of this museum, getting lost, and not finding each other for an hour
Do you love parks? We do
We love digging through mounds of useless trash to find weird porcelain artifacts and this is the place to do it... note that you can haggle
For the jazz purists among you...
This is a really nice cocktail bar
A college haunt for David. Snake and Jake's is open from 7p to 7a so they bought up all the real estate in the surrounding area after getting too many noise complaints. Cheap beer!
They're really serious about this being a carousel bar. It spins!! Inside the Hotel Monteleone. David went here for his 21st birthday with his mother :)
This is one of the oldest bars in the country and in our humble opinion the only place you should go in the French Quarter to drink. We went right before Christmas and got an enormous eggnog (?) alcoholic slushie. Don't know if either of us would drink it again
