North Eleuthera International (ELH)

The best airport to fly into to get to Harbour Island is ELH. For the NC folks, there are direct flights from Charlotte to ELH. If you are flying in from somewhere else, you can connect in Miami, Fort Lauderdale or Atlanta, where there are flights that service directly to ELH. You can also fly into Nassau Airport (NAS). Once there, you will need to make a separate connection with one of the three airlines that provide regular direct service to Eleuthera (ELH): Southern Air, Bahamasair and Pineapple Air. North Eleuthera Airport is approximately 15 minutes from Harbour Island (Dunmore Town).

Travel Details to Harbour Island

After landing at ELH (and exiting the plane on the tarmac), simply check-in with customs, collect your luggage, (likely lined up in a pile outside) and let one of the waiting taxis know that you are headed to Harbour Island. The taxi driver will know to take you to the dock, and help guide you to where the water taxies are- they depart for Harbour Island every 10 mins. After your quick boat ride and you've MADE IT! Total travel time from the airport to Harbour Island should take ~15 mins and will cost ~$10/person ($5 for land taxi, $5 for water taxi). Golf Carts

While the island isn’t huge (3.5 miles in length), if you want to leave your resort/hotel, it’s may be a trek to walk everywhere you need to go. It is recommended to rent a golf cart (the preferred method of transportation!) to get around. Whether you rent your golf cart yourself (more information below) or your resort/hotel concierge helps to arrange a golf cart rental for you, it is best to arrange this before you get to the island (even if you only want to rent a cart for one specific day). You can pick up your golf cart once you arrive, at the dock, or most rental companies are very accommodating and will bring your cart to where you are staying.
