Things To Do

There's so much to do and see in the District. Some of our favorite bites, activities and sights in the area are below. We organized the list by Arts & Culture, Food & Shopping, and Drinking.

Tour the United States Capitol

First Street Southeast, Washington, DC 20004

This is where Jan & Leslie first met! You must book a tour through the link. Take a stroll down the mall or over to Eastern Market afterwards.

Visit the Library of Congress

101 Independence Avenue Southeast, Washington, DC 20540

Right across the street from the Capitol. Leslie's top rec for prettiest building in the city.

Check Out the Renwick Gallery

Pennsylvania Avenue at 17th Street, NW, Washington, DC

One of the many Smithsonian Museums you can check out while in D.C. This one has rotating contemporary art exhibits and is right across the street from the White House.

National Portrait Gallery

Washington, DC 20001

Check out the infamous Obama Presidential Portraits at this Smithsonian Museum located near Chinatown. Grab some dumplings afterwards!

The Yards Capitol Riverfront

355 Water Street SE, Washington, DC 20003

Check-out the Shops, Restaurants and Bars around the Potomac Riverfront. Steps away from the hotels and our wedding!

Union Market

1309 5th Street Northeast, Washington, DC 20002

Eat, Drink & Shop at Union Market. Make sure to check out Byrdland record store. Great local vendors with great people watching!

The Wharf DC

Check-out the restaurants, bars and shopping along the Potomac River!

Eastern Market

225 7th Street Southeast, Washington, DC 20003

Check out one of D.C.'s oldest markets, celebrating their 150th Anniversary this year. On Saturday mornings you'll find food and craft vendors lining the street!

La Cosecha

1280 4th Street Northeast, Washington, DC 20002

A Latin American Marketplace located right next to Union Market, if you're craving an pupusa & a margarita then you should check this place out!

14th Street Corridor (14th between Rhode Island Avenue NW and U Street NW)

Jan proposed at a restaurant on 14th Street and one of our favorite date spots is here too (Lupo Verde). You can find shopping, restaurants and bars along this stretch of NW DC.

La Famosa

1300 4th Street Southeast, Washington, DC 20003

Great Puerto Rican food & drinks close to the hotel!

Solace Outpost Navy Yard

71 Potomac Avenue Southeast, Washington, DC 20003

Great brewery with views of the waterfront, within walking distance of the hotels.

Andy's Pizza at Atlas Brew Works - Half Street

1201 Half Street Southeast, Washington, DC 20003

Our favorite pizza is strategically only a 5 minute walk from our hotel. Check-out Nat's Park on your way!

For all the days along the way
