Garrett and Elizabeth were both in their second year of teaching and had to attend monthly district meetings. At one meeting on November 16th, 2017, Garrett was talking to a mutual friend of Elizabeth's. Elizabeth went over to say hi to their mutual friend and that was when Garrett first laid his eyes on Elizabeth. After the meeting, Garrett made sure to meet up with Elizabeth to talk to her. They talked for a few short minutes. After talking, Garrett wanted to take Elizabeth on a date. At work the next day, he scrambled with the idea of how to reach out to her. He figured he would ask their friend and see if she knew anything about Elizabeth. By the end of the day, Elizabeth had received a text from their mutual friend telling her that Garrett was interested in taking her out on a date and wanted to know if she can give Garrett her phone number. Elizabeth quickly looked up who Garrett was. She noticed they had another mutual friend, Matt. After talking to Matt and his wife, Nikki, (who were on their honeymoon) Elizabeth decided to go on a date with Garrett. They met up at Hook Burger in Valencia, California on November 19th, 2017. What was supposed to be a lunch date, turned into four hours of talking and laughing. Both walked away from their first date knowing that they were going to marry each other one day. The saying "when you know, you know" describes them perfectly. A year and 2 months later, they got engaged and now cannot wait to spend the rest of our lives together.
Garrett's Christmas present to Elizabeth for Christmas 2018, was a trip to Lake San Marcos to stay at the Lakehouse Resort. On January 9th, 2019, Garrett booked them at sunset cruise. When it came time to take the cruise, they already had champagne, cheese, crackers, and fruit to have on the boat. They drove the boat around for about thirty minutes and then they decided to go to the fountain in the center of the lake to watch the sunset. Once they arrived, Garrett asked Elizabeth to get him another cracker. When she got up to get him a cracker, she heard her name. She turned around and saw Garrett on one knee. Garrett said, "Elizabeth you are my best friend. I love you so much and want to spend the rest of our lives together. Will you marry me?" Elizabeth instantly started crying of joy and immediately said yes. Once they docked boat, Elizabeth looked up and saw both of their families and closests friends already there ready to celebrate them.
