Roaring Gap is a mountain retreat nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains. In the 1920s, Carrington's great-great-grandfather built one of the original houses, which is now owned by Carrington's Aunt Greyson and Uncle Garland. It's also where she first introduced her extended family to Jonathan! The Roaring Gap Club is a private club offering golf, swimming, tennis, dining, and other amenities and activities for members and guests. www.roaringgapclub.com
The weather in Roaring Gap is usually clear and pleasant in September, with mild daytime temperatures in the 60s-70s and chillier nights in the 50s. It's best to be prepared for the possibility of rain. As they say in the mountains, "If you don't like the weather, just wait five minutes."
Roaring Gap is casual, except for the rehearsal dinner on Friday night (smart casual) and the ceremony and reception on Saturday (cocktail attire). Pack a bathing suit for the lake and pool. Be sure to bring a jacket or wrap for after sunset!
If staying in a private home or a Club-owned studio or condo, please check in at the Graystone Inn, which is open 8am-4pm Friday and Saturday. You will receive your keys and temporary Roaring Gap charge account number. Check-out is 11am Sunday. If you will arrive after the front desk is closed, please contact lee.jeter.wedding@gmail.com with your travel information, and we'll arrange for access to your accommodations.
Cash and credit cards are not accepted at the Roaring Gap Club, so when you arrive, each guest will have a temporary membership number for the weekend to use for food, golf, tennis, etc. The club will send you a bill in October.
No, transportation is not provided to or from our events. Roaring Gap is a very small community, so we recommend our guests (including those staying at High Meadows Inn) carpool with relatives and friends, or drive their own cars. Parking is available at the lake, chapel and reception.
No, our wedding weekend is adults-only. Though Roaring Gap is great fun for kids, our events are not set up to accommodate children, and babysitting services are hard to find. If you have questions about your particular situation, please call Jonathan or Carrington, or email lee.jeter.wedding@gmail.com.
