I hiked up a literal mountain to get this ring. We spent a long weekend in Sedona to relax and do some hiking. On Mother's Day, we woke up to do a 2 mile hike to Devil's bridge. I threw my hair up in a bun and some sweats on. Getting ready to walk out the door..boom outline of a ring box in his pocket. Immediately went back inside to do my hair, put on makeup and change my outfit. Anyhoo-we go on the hike, I'm basically practicing poses the whole hike. We get lost on the hike. take the long way. whole hie ends up being 6 miles instead of 2 miles. Get to the photo spot. Nothing. I even was like let me just nonchalantly turn and face the opposite way as him, preparing my surprised face. No dice. Hiked back with an attitude. We get back to our condo and I was not trying to get engaged at some Italian restaurant like legally blonde. So, what do I suggest we do.....go on another hike. Once I confirmed the outline of the ring box was still very visible in his pocket, I was ready to hike like there was no tomorrow. So this time we hiked to cathedral rock...fitting right? Google says its 1.5 mile round trip, I was like great lets go. I failed to read the part where it said it was a vertical scramble hike. Fit people decked out in Lululemon were turning around saying it was too hard. But I was determined. We made it to the top...maybe I should be a Lululemon fit girly. We got to the top, stunning. But also, no one there.....who was going to take our picture???? Again-couldn't let the moment be ruined or go uncaptured. So, I took off my hiking boot and propped up my phone. If anyone has hiked cathedral rock, you know about the vortex. if you haven't-look it up. The wind was whipping up there. And just as Kevin got down on one knee, the wind whipped my phone right into my boot missing the moment. go figure. Full disclosure-i made him redo it. He really does love me. We spent some time just the two of us at the top soaking it in, when boom-rain cloud. We scurried back down, and when I say scurry I mean I sat on my butt and just slid down the entire thing. We then held hands walking back to the lot to grnabthe shuttle back to our car. Shuttle service stopped 45 minutes prior and we had to hitchhike to get back. The sweetest couple gave us a ride and it really did end up being not only the most perfect engagement, but so fitting and perfect for us. We have always known we wanted a small intimate wedding, and we are so excited to get to spend it with the people we love. We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you. See you in Costa Rica!
