The Lavisi Love Story

Where It All Began

It's a love story as old as time, two singles swiping through Tinder when suddenly ... 'It's A Match!' After meeting through the Tinder dating app in May 2016, Danielle worked up her most creative pick up line to reel in Jen for a first date, asking Jen to meet up to do her taxes. The two set a date to meet on the following Friday for margaritas at a downtown bar. The day arrived and the hours unfolded leading up to their 7pm meeting time. To this day, the communication, or lack there-of, leading up to the date is still somewhat controversial. Danielle, wanting to make sure they had lots to talk about during the date, neglected to text Jen that day. Jen, thinking she was being blown off without any confirmation from Danielle, texted just as Danielle stepped off the T nearby the bar (planning to arrive a bit early) -- "We still on?". Jen then quickly dressed for the date and hopped on the T. Despite the imperfect start, sparks flew in that bar as the two sat side by side sipping margaritas and laughing all night. The two became inseparable over that first summer together, both commuting from one end of the city to the other on an over 1-hour T ride each way multiple times per week. When September came, serendipity had it that Jen's new apartment was just steps from Danielle's, on the same short Cleveland Circle street. The next year, the two made the official move-in together and adopted their furry children, Muffin and Monty.

The Proposals

Double the Brides, Double the Rings!

Jen asked first... After working with a local jeweler to design Danielle's ring, Jen held onto it and awaited the right time to pop the question. Then, coolly, she texted Danielle at work on a Wednesday to make plans for the coming Friday night. She suggested 3 things that she knew Danielle would find irresistible - a picnic, Thai food, and an early bedtime. In anticipation of the evening's plans, Danielle had dreamed on Thursday night about the picnic and that Jen proposed to her. She kept this to herself, not wanting to put any pressure on Jen. Then, sitting on the picnic blanket on Friday evening, Danielle told Jen about the dream. Intrigued, Jen asked how she had proposed in the dream. Then, suddenly, Jen turned around and presented the ring asking "... so, will you marry me!?". Danielle screamed "OH MY GOD!!!" and then "Yes!!". And yes, they still got Thai food afterword and were in bed by 9pm as promised. A couple months later, it was Danielle's turn to return the question. On another Friday night, Danielle prepared a surprise home picnic in the living room for Jen upon her arrival home from work. Standing in the living room surrounded by candles and holding up a series of posters, Danielle didn't say anything when Jen entered, letting the words on the posters say it all. Through a short series of flipping the posters, the final sheet posed the question, 'Will you marry me back?'. Jen said yes and Danielle slipped a diamond ring onto her finger. They enjoyed champagne on the indoor picnic blanket, and then met up with friends for a celebratory meal at their favorite tapas restaurant.
