So we actually don't agree on when we first met. Davis swears that he met Lauryn during a Performance Collaborative club meeting in the fall of our sophomore year, but Lauryn insists it was during a show party for Stop Kiss at Becca Smith's house (Lauryn was the master electrician on this show, Davis was on run crew) in like November. Either way, we soon learned that we had grown up just 10 minutes from each other (Lauryn in Drexel Hill/Upper Darby, Davis in Springfield) and we actually had several mutual friends from Upper Darby Summer Stage. And for the next two years, we were pretty good friends. We definitely had crushes on each other over those two years, but just friends...
Finally just a month before Davis graduated in 2016, and two months before Lauryn was heading to England for the summer to study the York Mystery Plays and medieval literature (did you know she has a BPhil?), Davis came to the Banana House (Lauryn's house) to do laundry and eat pizza and watch Phantom of the Opera with Lauryn. About an hour in we both confessed this was more than friendship, and decided we were a couple! Just in time to have a long distance relationship for at least a year!
After Lauryn finished at Pitt in 2017, she moved back to Philly where Davis had already begun a successful career in technical theater at both the Walnut Street Theatre and the McCarter Theatre Center. Fun fact: Lauryn starred in A Christmas Carol at the McCarter! Just a few months after Davis had quit... We then moved in together in 2019 in our cute little house on Mildred Street in Philly, just in time for the pandemic! We left in 2021 to live in the suburbs for a year, before a huge change...
And it was a big move. We decided that we had done about as much as we could with our careers in Philly, and it was time for a change. So in 2022, Lauryn got ready to head to New York City while Davis spent a few extra months finishing up at the Walnut. He also decided to really shock Lauryn by proposing literally one week before she moved! Who needs to pack when you can have countless family dinners to celebrate?!
We fell in love with Maine in 2020 when we escaped there for a weeklong getaway. After we have a small ceremony there in June 2025, we'll head back home for a PA Reception with our family and friends! We can't wait to celebrate with you and share this special moment with the people we love most.
