It's Happening!

We matched on a dating website in Fall 2019 and messaged back and forth for a bit and Lauryn ended up "ghosting" (stopped messaging back) after a bit. We matched again in August 2020 and Lauryn asked if she could take him out for a drink as an apology for ghosting him.

We were in Hawaii and we had a "Josh and Lauryn Day" where we hung out at the beach just us, went snorkeling, went to dinner at a Thai restaurant in a local strip mall (which wasn't that great, ha), and came back to have drinks with my family. Josh wanted to take sunset photos so I went to the room to grab our phone stand and he sneakily went to my dad and got the ring. We went over to the veranda and a couple of high school kids were sitting in there watching videos on their phone. I told Josh I could kick them out and he just ushered me off to the side where they have the spa chairs. He set up the camera to record and had everything he was going to say on his phone. He proposed in Hawaii because a few days earlier we had just scattered my mom's ashes off the coast of the hotel and he wanted to do it so my mom would be there. He's a thoughtful guy :)
