The oldest masonry fort in the continental United States, with construction beginning in 1672. This site is run by the National Park Service, so if you have a national park annual pass, you can visit for free!
Founded by Chicago Publisher Otto Lightner in 1948, the museum presents compelling exhibitions and programs as well as Lightner's unique collection of Americana, fine and decorative art, and natural history specimens and is housed in the former Alcazar Hotel, constructed in 1888 by Henry Flagler.
Beautiful, historic cathedral in St. Augustine, Florida, constructed over five years (1793–1797) and designated a U.S. National Historic Landmark in 1970. Its congregation, established in 1565, is the oldest Christian congregation in the contiguous United States.
In 1968, the historic Ponce de Leon Hotel, built in 1888, was converted into a college. This building and many others in St. Augustine, including the Lightner Museum and Grace United Methodist Church (where we are getting married), were commissioned by Henry Flagler, who contributed significantly to St. Augustine's distinctive architectural charm.
