Our story starts back in August of 2014. In 2014, I was asked to be a Sunday school teacher to a special group of 4th grade girls at Istrouma Baptist Church. I moved up with these girls through the years. Fast forward to August of 2016, my 4th grade girls are now starting 6th grade and moving into the youth group. I was paired with Dixie Easterly to lead these girls in Istrouma's youth group. I was 21 and Dixie was 27 and she quickly became my big sister. She would mention her younger brother Josh, who lived in Birmingham, AL, but at the time, I thought that was too far away . Fast forward to April of 2017, I told Dixie she could give her brother my number. From that day, Josh and I texted for a week, talked on the phone the following week, and then he drove down to Baton Rouge to meet me. Two weeks later, I drove to Birmingham over the weekend to see him and we officially started dating May 11, 2017 (the day before I graduated from LSU). As a new graduate who was applying to OT schools, I lived in Baton Rouge while he lived and worked in Birmingham until August of 2018. In August of 2018, I started OT school in Montgomery, AL which is 90 miles south of Birmingham. We continued to just see each other on the weekends for the next 2.5 years while I was getting my Masters in Occupational Therapy. In December of 2020, I finally graduated from OT school!! The next few moves/ life events for the both of us are listed below: * Lauren in Ottumwa, IA for a travel contract March 2021 - July 2021 *Lauren in Natchitoches, LA for a travel contract from August 2021 - October 2021 *Josh moved from Birmingham, AL to Folsom, LA and changed careers in October 2021 *Lauren in Alexandria, LA for a travel contract from October 2021 - October 2022 *Lauren in New Orleans, LA for a travel contract from October 2022- present *Josh proposes to Lauren on New Years Eve at Toby & Dixie's house at 9:00pm!!!!!!! *Josh and Lauren close on the most perfect house in Covington, LA on 4/14/23 :) *Lauren accepts a full time position at Ochsner Therapy and Wellness and is no longer traveling for work in May 2023. Through all of the distance and the life events, Josh and I saw each other almost every weekend. We've spent a lot of money on flights and a lot of hours on the highway through the years, but God's timing is and will always be perfect! And big sisters always know best ;)
