How We Met

9.1.21

Lauren's Version: We met swing dancing in college. Enoch offered to help me learn a move and I very bluntly told him that I didn't need his help. Later that night he asked me to dance with him but pulled me to the dance floor before I had a chance to decline. After charming me a bit, it became our routine to dance with each other at least once during each dance event on campus. It wasn't until we danced a rumba together (our least favorite style of dance coincidentally) that I realized how kind, thoughtful, and Christ-like Enoch is. Enoch's Version: I don't remember when I first met Lauren, but I do remember that when I first saw her I found her very cute. I enjoyed making a tradition of dancing with her every time we were both at swing dance. As we started talking the Lord showed me her beauty and wisdom. Over the course of our friendship, I felt what home could be like.

The Proposal

6.18.23

Lauren's Version: A few camp friends told me we were going to have a photoshoot for a blog that we were going to be featured in (which I now know was just a ruse). We got all dressed up and took some fancy pictures. After a while PC drove by and told me to get in the truck with him. He starts to drive up the mountain and tells me that Kelly hiked to the rock alone and dropped something off the cliff and needed our help. Of course when we got to the rock Kelly was fine, Enoch was there, and I immediately blacked out from the sudden adrenaline rush. I don't remember much of what else happened but there was a lovely speech, a ring, and a yes. Enoch's Version: Anyone who knows Lauren knows that she is very hard to keep secrets from. She can sniff out surprises better than anyone I know, so I had to work very hard to keep it from her and keep backup plans for if she became suspicious. One occasion included pretending to lose sleep for a week so I could pretend to sleep in half the day so I could sneak up to ask for her parents' blessing. It all culminated in sneaking up to her camp with the help of her friends and luring her up to a beautiful overlook with the sun setting where I told her about my decision and how I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her. She was very cute when she was too stunned to answer, but after asking her a second time she made me the happiest man in the world.
