A vibrant late-night neighborhood where all the cool kids hang out lately.
A fun market with lots of great food.
The closest and largest mall for guests staying in Makati City.
The other really big mall in Makati City.
If you're staying in any of our recommended hotels, Ayala Triangle will be walking distance. A good place to get dinner as there's quite a few restaurants in this area.
Tats is a superfan of the ramen here.
Laurel loves the salmon and the earl gray dessert at Your Local. It's also next door to Yardstick, a pleasant cafe.
For a crash course on Philippine history, Ayala Museum is always a good bet.
Another great market with locally made goods and great breakfasts.
The coast is lined with dive resorts. Take your pick, or ask us which one we recommend! Anilao is about 2 hours outside Metro Manila - make sure your resort offers a shuttle or pickup of some kind.
This is where Laurel and Tats will be hanging out in the days after the wedding! If you're feeling up for an eight-hour bus ride to the beach, La Union is a classic surf town. The night bus will get you there by 6am, or you can arrange your own transport with a tour company.
For those who prefer mountains to seas. This nature reserve in the mountains is about two hours from Manila, and offers an easy but beautiful hike/climb with great photo opportunities. Tip: Make a reservation as early as possible - they only allow a limited number of people in a day! Take the earliest slot available to avoid both the heat and the traffic. Not for those that are afraid of heights as there are a few nets to climb. Tanlines, their partner in the city, departs from Poblacion Makati and makes it easy to get there and back. It'll take you most of the day to do this activity.
This is Laurel's favorite, non-touristy place to take a walk. There are market booths for random vendors, a memorial to a former president, plants for sale, an odd theme park, and all things coconut at Coconut House.
