Ray was a seasoned veteran on the Memphis Catholic Young Adult kickball team, and I had just moved to Memphis and was looking for a way to make new friends. When I took an interest in Ray's dog, Titan, Ray took that as a signal that I might be interested in him, too! He took me out to a Grizzlies basketball game for our first date, and the rest is history. After a year and a half of dating and making memories in Memphis, I moved back to the Springfield, MA area to finish my surgery residency, and Ray found a great job in Rhode Island. We continue to strengthen our relationship despite the distance, and, with God as our guide and rock, we eagerly look forward to the day when we say "I do".

I wasn't expecting it! It was our last kickball game of the season, and I was sad to be ending the activity that brought us together. I stepped onto the pitcher's mound and waited for everyone else to take their positions. Ray walked towards me with the kickball in hand, and when he gave it to me, I realized it had writing on it. Next thing I know, he is down on one knee and opening the ring box! I was shaky with excitement for the whole game! We called our families to tell them the good news, and celebrating afterwards with our team.
