As with all good modern love stories, we connected via the internet in 2020. After bonding over a mutual love for Conor Oberst, music, books, and writing, we first met on the front porch when Omari arrived for our first date. While the connection was strong and we had a wonderful time together, life, the COVID pandemic shutdown and responsibilities took us elsewhere until we reconnected the day after Christmas in 2021. From there, love, trust, respect, family, and devotion developed into a desire to "do life" together.
Some people have dramatic, one time proposal events, but ours was the result of multiple conversations that developed into engagement. Omari was the first to propose that we "do this life thing together." Laura was the one who added "Hey, let's get married."
