We met for dinner at Geno's Grille at the University of Connecticut. We both ordered the same meal, salmon with lentils. We were enjoying each other's company so we decided to walk around the downtown area. We indulged in dessert at Insomnia Cookies and decided on a movie. After My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2, we were sure we wanted to see each other again.
We "took the plunge" and signed a 6-month lease for a 1 bedroom apartment in Salem, CT. While still close to friends and family, we were on our own in this small town, frequenting the lone pizza shop often, and hopping from brewery to brewery. We were not there very long, but we loved every minute of it!
After a few short months living together, we were off to the big city, Malden, MA! Mike moved in first, spending the first two weeks in our apartment with only a milk crate to sit on, one plate, and one cup. Shortly, Laura moved up, and we started our Boston area adventure! We frequented both the city of Boston itself, as well as exploring the surrounding areas. If it weren't for Mike being a Yankees' fan, you would've thought we've been Bostonians this whole time!
To celebrate Laura's graduation from pharmacy school, Laura and Mike embarked to California for a week, exploring Los Angeles, San Diego, and Joshua Tree. While Mike headed home, Laura flew to Aruba to continue celebrating along with her mother, aunt and cousin. While Laura was in Aruba, Mike adopted the cute little kitty to add to the family. To Laura's surprise, our family had grown to 3! Ever since, our home has been filled with squeaks, purrs, and cuddles!
We love to travel! It is a passion of ours, and we look forward to seeing the world together. Of the many locations we have been lucky enough to visit, we have toured Chicago, the California Coast, South Africa, Hawaii, Iceland, as well as a week in Utah. Aside from the many destinations, we have visited 12 US National Parks. Soon, we plan on visiting Peru, where we will hike the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu!
We were on vacation in the southwest USA visiting national parks. I found the engagement ring one night in his bag while looking for toothpaste. Luckily he was busy putting our laundry in the drier (his bag was very empty!) and even though I was very nervous he didn't suspect a thing. I waited and waited and waited 4 long days for him to propose under an arch at Arches National Park.
We will move from one stage in our relationship to another, and look forward to this wonderful day!
