Laura and her sister Melinda knew Shavon (Michael's sister) growing up through dance. Laura and Shavon spent a lot of time together talking about Shavon's dream wedding. When Laura went away to school, Melinda and Shavon taught dance together and quickly became best friends and Melinda stood up in her wedding. The week of Shavon's wedding, one of her bridesmaids was unable to standup. Shavon called Laura and said, "I need a bridesmaid, we always talked about my wedding growing up. Come over and try the dress on!" So Laura went over to Shavon's place and tried on the dress.....which fit perfectly. No alterations needed. Just like that Laura was standing up in Shavon's wedding. Laura was set to walk with Shavon's brother Michael. The rest as they say is history. Laura and Michael started dating shortly after the wedding and have been together ever since. They also walked in his sister Lavette's wedding recently. Laura and Michael are hoping the saying, "third time is the charm" holds true as their wedding will be the third time they walk down the isle together.
