Laura and Katie met at Lilys Dayton where Laura and her friend Courtney have weekly dinners each Friday. Katie is the bar manager at Lilys, and after many a Friday night, their mutual friend Sara suggested that they go on a date. 2 weeks later, Katie messaged Laura to ask her to go have dinner at Roost, and the rest is history...almost.

Our friend Lynn fatefully mentioned in a group chat that there would be a caricature artist at Affair on the Square (an event that Lynn organizes in Downtown Dayton). Laura reached out to Lynn to ask if the caricature artist would be willing to draw a picture ahead of time of Laura proposing to Katie. Lynn quickly swung into action! On Friday, June 9th, Laura asked Katie to go to Affair on the Square to sit for a caricature drawing to "support Lynns event". When we arrived, we sat for the drawing, then the DJ began to play our song "The Story" by Brandi Carlisle. The artist turned the pre-drawn caricature around, Laura opened the box and Katie thankfully said "yes"! We were also lucky enough to have been loaned a photographer for the event, so we have each moment documented, along of course with the caricature which the artist kindly framed for us as a gift.
