We’re Jumping the Broom!!

Myron and I met through a mutual friend in Inglewood, California where I lived with my grandparents and we both attended Morningside High School. He was in the 9th grade and I was in the 10th. He had been into skateboarding and I was (unfortunately) involved in gang activities. ( I know I don’t look the type 🤷🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️) Moving on… lol. We dated until I was forced to move back up north with my Parents after them discovering I had been ditching school a lot. That ended our boyfriend/girlfriend relationship but over the years I still went by to visit Myron’s family even when he wasn’t home. We were good friends although our paths started to drift. We got a chance to hook up and hang one last time when we were 19 but then our lives led us to other places. I moved up even further north to THE BAY where I began my new life and he eventually went to Minnesota to start his life. The unfortunate illness and passing of his beloved grandmother led him back to California. In July of 2015, I was 3 months shy of a divorce and was trying to figure out my next steps. I decided to take my girls to LA for a visit. with my family. Myron’s mom and I were friends on FB and so she asked me to bring my children for her to meet while being out there in LA. I was able to take them by on July 24th, 2015. Myron was there. It was just like “Hey Myron, How ya doing?” But it wasn’t like “HEEEEY MYRON!” Lol. Anyways, we all talked and he interacted with my kids. It was nice to talk about the old days. I watched how they interacted with Myron cause that was the first and only man since their dad that they met with who knew me. They was cool. Laughing and talking and when it was time for us to go, Myron asked when we would be leaving and then asked them if he could take me out the following week. To my surprise THEY SAID YES! Lol. I still didn’t think much but it would be nice having dinner with Myron and catching up on life.

Myron asked me to come early for our date so he could wash my car before we went out. Of course, I was running behind, so when I got there, we drove to the car wash. After hanging and talking while the car was being washed, we headed over to Marina Del Rey where he took me to the Yard House. We sat and talked for hours! Laughing, drinking and eating all while reminiscing over the past years. We talked about everything. We had such a good time and didn’t want the day to end so we headed over to a CVS, bought a bottle of wine, corkscrew and cups and then preceded to drive the coast until we got to a beach spot. I am always prepared so I had a blanket in my trunk, which we walked to the water with and laid the blanket down. We sat there just talking and laughing. It felt so organic, and I was in no way nervous. (I thought I would be) being it my first date in over 10 years. He never made a move. Just a gentleman. After being stalked as prey by the birds out there, we got up and left. (Insider lol) It was midnight. Once we made it to his house, we decided to go in and watch a movie. I had told him that I didn’t want to put my feet up on his bed because they were dirty from the beach. He left out of the room and came back with warm water, soap and a towel. He washed my feet. I instantly felt more attraction. I hadn’t planned to, but I ended up staying the night with him. 🤦🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️😩😜 That was the best date I had ever been on! It really was. Just meant and at the right time. Well, the next day our date continued but this time with the kids. He took us for ice cream and to the park. Then we went to dinner that night. We spent those last few days of my trip together. Then it was time for me to head back up North. We decided to continue this reconnection and see where it would lead……..

We talked on the phone every day and all night when we weren’t doing anything else. October of 2015, he flew up to stay a week with us. It was so awesome! Then I went back to Inglewood for the new year 2016. We did the back and forth for 4 years. Then we took a breather to make sure that this was what we really want. (I can’t even tell u how long it was, but it was painful) I had two brothers, My God mother and my ex-husband die the last 6 months of 2018 and Myron was there for it all! When the kid's dad died, he didn’t hesitate to make it out here for them! I definitely knew then!! I HAD TRULY FOUND MY SOULMATE! On July, 7th, 2019, he told me he loved me. and wanted to take our relationship further. So, from that point we decided to plan his exit from Inglewood and new beginning in The Bay.

Well, we had planned different dates for him to move to the Bay, but he was getting cold feet. Wasn't sure how his life would be up north and if he was really ready to start all over. This was the last date, Veteran's weekend. I was gonna be off from work and told him 2 weeks prior to put in for a transfer for his job and that I would be driving down to get him. My sister Lavonna, got in on the heist and we made our way to LA. We got to hang out with family, pack him up (using both his and my car) and left for our new life in the Bay Area together. That was an amazing weekend too. LV will ALWAYS be my Rida! With no hesitation, she jumped in the car and helped me snatch my man up! Lol. THANK YOU LAVONNA!!

The date was supposed to be 12/18/21 but he ended up doing it at 12:44 am. Which ended up being perfect because it was 3 days shy of my 44th birthday on that 12th month! The day started off rocky. Myron had been planning this day for a while, along with my sis La Vonna and his sister Monique. I had NO IDEA. Myron had been purposely making me upset all that week to keep me from knowing the plot and it worked. Maybe a little too good cause my sisters was about ready to kill me by the time he proposed. LOL. Anyway, LV had taken me to lunch, and we got our nails done... (I still didn't know. lol) I had told Myron's sister to come up for a Birthday sleepover I was going to have but I decided to cancel and forgot to tell her. So, when she showed up, I was surprised. Well, Myron told me we would be going to dinner that night but gave me no information on the time to be ready or what to wear. I took my time, and we ended up leaving after 8pm... Lord, we ended up at the restaurant, The Yard House in Concord, Ca. (Now remember our first date was there, right.) Myron's mom, sister Mo, nephews Twon and G & my sis LV also showed up for the dinner. I was happy but also sad cause I felt like the kids should have also been there. I had a tear fest in my car and didn't feel like celebrating anymore. (Be quiet Mo and Vonna! lol) Anyhow, after the dinner we headed over to the Big Christmas Tree they had displayed in the plaza to take a few pics before the family went their own way and that's when HE DID IT! I turned around from takin a pic and he was right there whispering, and I moved in closer to realize he was about to propose. I begged him not too. I had been acting like a baby!! Upset that the kids weren't there. That he didn't take me to a place I had hinted to go too. I just didn't deserve to be asked right then... But he did! I didn't even realize that LV was playing music in the background and everyone with their cameras out. All I saw was him get down on one knee. I can't even remember his words. I was in AWWWEEE... I was crying and he was crying as I said YES! Then it wasn't over. Driving home excited, I still felt a way about the kids not being involved but that all changed when I walked into our house and the girls had decorated the house! Soon as I stepped through the door, they threw flowers and wished us a congratulations! He never left them out! the plan didn't go according to exactly how they wanted but it was EXECUTED how God wanted. WOW just WOW.... One of the most memorable nights of my life by far.... And so here we are.... Planning a Wedding! God is Good.
